One-Pan Cheesy Sausage Potato Bake (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 1 lb Monon Meats Smoked Sausage, thinly sliced
02 - 2 lbs potatoes, diced
03 - 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
04 - 1 onion, finely diced
05 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
06 - 1/2 cup chopped green onions, for garnish

→ Sauce and Seasonings

07 - 1 packet ranch dressing mix
08 - 1/2 cup milk
09 - 1/4 cup melted butter
10 - Salt and pepper to taste

# Instructions:

01 - Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). This ensures the oven is at the right temperature when you're ready to bake.
02 - Place a large skillet over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced smoked sausage and cook until the pieces are nicely browned on both sides, about 5-7 minutes. Once browned, transfer the sausage to a plate and set aside.
03 - In the same skillet, using the residual fat from the sausage, add the finely diced onion and minced garlic. Sauté them until the onions become translucent and the garlic is fragrant, about 3-4 minutes. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
04 - In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced potatoes, cooked sausage slices, and the sautéed onion and garlic mixture. Add the shredded cheddar cheese, ranch dressing mix, milk, and melted butter. Season everything with salt and pepper to your taste preference. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined and evenly distributed.
05 - Transfer the entire mixture into a greased baking dish, spreading it out in an even layer. Make sure the potatoes and sausage are distributed evenly throughout the dish for consistent cooking.
06 - Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil. This helps trap moisture and steam, allowing the potatoes to cook through without the top getting too brown too quickly. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 60 minutes.
07 - After the initial 60 minutes, remove the aluminum foil from the dish. Return it to the oven and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender and the top has developed a beautiful golden-brown color.
08 - Once done, take the dish out of the oven and let it cool slightly for a few minutes. Sprinkle the chopped green onions over the top for a fresh garnish and added color. Serve warm and enjoy this hearty, comforting meal!

# Notes:

01 - You can substitute different types of potatoes based on your preference - russet potatoes hold their shape well, while Yukon gold offer a creamier texture.
02 - Feel free to use any variety of smoked sausage, such as kielbasa, andouille, or even turkey sausage for a lighter option.
03 - This dish reheats well and can be made ahead of time for busy weeknights.
04 - For extra flavor, consider adding additional herbs like thyme or rosemary to the mixture before baking.
