Cheesy French Onion Rice Bake (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Base Ingredients

01 - 1 cup long-grain white rice
02 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
03 - 2 medium yellow onions, thinly sliced
04 - 2 cups beef broth
05 - 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed French onion soup

→ Seasonings

06 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
07 - 1 teaspoon dried thyme
08 - ½ teaspoon black pepper

→ Topping

09 - 1 cup Gruyère or Swiss cheese, shredded
10 - Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook sliced onions, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and caramelized (about 25-30 minutes).
02 - Heat oven to 350°F. In a 9x13 baking dish, mix uncooked rice, beef broth, French onion soup, seasonings, and caramelized onions.
03 - Cover with foil and bake 30 minutes. Remove foil, stir, then bake another 20-25 minutes until rice is tender.
04 - Top with shredded cheese and bake 5-10 more minutes until melted and bubbly.
05 - Let rest a few minutes, then garnish with parsley if desired. Serve warm.
